Crypto is still the Future of France, I just can't prove it yet.
In fact, I kind of feel like there has never been a better time to be bullish on crypto, as we see more and more bridges between it and tradfi acting as 'validation' for the thesis.
Some examples of genuine growth and adoption from past couple of years:
• Polymarket regulatory clearance to operate in the US
• ICE (NYSE parent company) invests 2 billion in Polymarket
• Galaxy, a Nasdaq listed stock, tokenizes on Solana
• Nasdaq pushing for SEC clearance to allow trading of tokenized securities
• BTC ETFs, Eth ETFs, incoming Sol ETFs
• Stablecoin boom: Circle IPO, Tether PROFIT at 13 BILLION in 2024 (up over 100% on 2023)
• Stripe buys Bridge (1.1 bil) and Privy (est. 250 million)
• Stripe building new blockchain ‘Tempo’ with Matt Huang (paradigm)
• Emergence of Hyperliquid
• JP Morgan + Coinbase partnership
• Mastercard + Chainlink partnership
Some general thoughts/ideas:
- A lot of tek will get silo'd by legacy finance
- There's still clear advantages to building on open networks like Solana
- Industry becomes less cyclical, and most coins become less and less correlated with BTC
- More microcycles driven by idiosyncratic opportunities
- Fundamentals becoming far more important, even in a speculative environment.
- ICM is real
- Ansem break-out apps thesis is real
- Being crypto-native is still an edge
